ON THE RISK mourns the loss of insurance pioneer Hank George, who passed away on Jan. 10, 2024. Not only was Hank known for his great contributions to the insurance industry, Hank founded the journal of underwriting ON THE RISK in 1984. Hank is also well known in the insurance industry as editor of “Hot Notes,” which he started in 2000, as well as Founder of the International Underwriting Congress conference series in 1997. Hank published more than 550 research articles and papers, ad -
dressed the Million Dollar Round Table from the main stage on two occasions, and authored two books: Getting It Issued and Underwriting: What Every Producer Must Know . Hank was also the recipient of the Academy of Life Underwriting Outstanding Achievement Award and was inducted into the AHOU Hall of Fame. As we celebrate 40 years of ON THE RISK , we take time to remember Hank and all he brought to the industry.
